Browns Sign Running Back John Kelly

The Cleveland Browns have signed RB John Kelly to their active roster after RBs Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt have been injured. With RB D’Ernest Johnson getting the start this Thursday against the Broncos, Kelly should still be getting some reps. Kelly was on the Browns practice squad team before being signed to their active roster.

This is a tough situation for the Browns as both of their starting running backs are out due to injury. Even though this situation is not ideal, it does not mean we can still be positive. John Kelly has a pretty good pre-season with Cleveland as he caught some passes in the backfield and ran some people over. Kelly can be an electric runner for the Cleveland Browns, although his results can be mixed.

John Kelly has not made a regular season with the Cleveland Browns yet. He has played eight regular-season games for the Los Angeles Rams. The Rams drafted Kelly in the sixth round of the 2018 NFL Draft. Kelly does not have high numbers when it comes to his NFL career statistics, but he has a chance to increase them in this game against the Broncos.

Overall, I feel that Kelly can surprise some people. No, he will not be Nick Chubb or Kareem Hunt, but he will try to execute on offense. I think that Kelly has the chance to make some big plays during this Thursday night game.

It is unsure as to how long Kelly will be on the Browns 53-man active roster. They made this move since they put Kareem Hunt on IR. If Hunt comes back in a few weeks, Kelly could be sent back to the practice squad. The good news for John Kelly is for these next few weeks, it is his time to shine. He will have plenty of regular-season reps to wow the Browns or maybe another NFL team in the future.
