Browns Roster Cut Roster From 90 to 85 Players Officially

The Cleveland Browns were faced with the deadline of cutting the roster from 90 members down to 85 by the end of day Tuesday. Here’s what the team did:

-Terminating defensive tackle Sheldon Day’s contract.

-Waived linebacker Silas Kelly from the Injured Reserve list.

-Waived offensive tackle Elijah Nkansah with an injury designation.

-Placed center Nick Harris on injured reserve

-Placed center Dawson Deaton on injured reserve

*With one open roster spot, the team claimed wide receiver Easop Winston.

Clearly, the big issue with this team is going to be at center with those two being placed on injured reserve. The Browns are going to have to pick up another player as a replacement to try and fill the hole in that spot. The offensive line is a crucial part of any great team.

Getting rid of Sheldon Day was more of the fact that the team simply has others that are better to fill the spot in Jordan Elliot and Taven Bryan. Additionally, Tommy Togiai and Perrion Winfrey can play the position as well.

The team is in need of some wide receiver help. Thus, we shall see if Easop Winston ends up being a factor at all.

***UPDATE – The Browns have signed OT Wyatt Miller and waived WR Travell Harris.

Moving forward, the Browns are going to have to make even more decisions by August 23rd at 4 p.m. when the roster will have to go from 85 down to 80 players. An official NFL roster for the regular season is 53 players and that major cut comes on August 30th when 27 players get the bad news.
