Browns Roster Analysis: Linebackers
Joe Schobert
Schobert (6’1″ 245) was initially drafted by the Browns in the fourth-round of the 2016 draft and played sparingly in his rookie year. He was named the starting middle linebacker for 2017 and he had a breakout campaign. Schobert finished on top of the leaderboards with 144 total tackles tied with Blake Martinez (Green Bay) and Preston Brown (Buffalo). The middle linebacker also recorded three sacks, an interception and forced three fumbles proving he was worth the draft pick. He should be a huge contributor for years to come and at a cheap price, too. Schobert is owed $630K next year and $720K in 2019. He still has time to prove he can consistently play at a high level, but I would expect an extension offer after the 2018 season concludes.
