On Friday the Cleveland Browns announced they released linebackers Quentin Groves and Larry Grant. Groves signed a 2 year deal last offseason and was a scheme fit player to former defensive coordinator Ray Horton. Groves played under Horton in Arizona in 2012. Groves missed most of 2013 with a ankle injury. Groves, when healthy can provide good pass rushing capability. But with a stacked outside Linebacker core of Jabaal Sheard, Paul Kruger, and Barkevious Mingo, Groves was the odd man out. Coach Mike Pettine thinks highly of Sheard and Mingo and both could have breakout seasons. The other release was OLB Larry Grant who played his college ball at Ohio State.
