Browns Preseason Reinforces America As Land of Opportunity

It feels different.

Everything about this Cleveland Browns team from the top-down feels like a page has been turned and The Dawgs are no longer a joke.

Before yesterday, don’t be ashamed if you didn’t know who Damon Sheehy-Guiseppi was…

I’ll admit, I didn’t.

This is a guy that slept outside a 24-hour gym just to get a tryout with the Browns. At 5’11 and 24-years-old, this 181-pound receiver last played football at Phoenix College in 2016.

With just over three minutes to go in the first Browns preseason game against the Washington Redskins, Sheehy got a chance to return a punt. Cleveland was up 24-10 and most people were ready to go to bed (or watch the Indians if you’re a true Cleveland fan).

After a bobble, Sheehy splits through a bunch of defenders, gets a block and is off to the races for a TOUCHDOWN!

Then, this happened:

DAWG Pile!!

“I felt all the love,” he said, via Scott Patsko of the Cleveland Plain Dealer. “I couldn’t breathe under the pile. I was over there gasping for air, but I felt all the love. I saw all of them come running down there (to the end zone) and it was just a blessing.”

Moreover, it wasn’t just third-stringers in that celebration. This was guys who didn’t have to give a damn about this no-name.

Yet they all did…

It shows the culture of this franchise and how things have changed. How every man has the back of his fellow teammate.

This play reminds me in the first ROCKY when The Italian Stallion knocks down Apollo Creed. It’s a moment so unexpected and amazing that it shocks the entire audience. Or, in Major League, when Willie Mays Hayes sleeps and then wins the race against Indians players while sporting pajamas.

Except…this was real life!

I wish Damon Sheehy-Guiseppi the BEST of luck. However, no one can ever, ever take that moment away from him.

Go Browns!
