Browns Failed to Complete Comeback Against Commanders

The Cleveland Browns looked to get another victory after beating the New York Jets in the Hall of Fame Game. Their next challenge would be the Washington Commanders. The Browns started very sloppy and were not effective on the field until the end of the third quarter. The Browns tried to rally back but it was too little, too late. The Commanders managed to hang on to a 17-15 victory to win Week 1 of the Preseason.
The Browns failed on a two-point conversion to tie the game.
The Browns had more passing yards, rushing yards and converted on third down plays than the Commanders. Those two turnovers did hurt them but not to a high degree. The Browns just ran out of time and out of magic.
Quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson finished the game completing 9 of his 10 passes, throwing for 102 yards with one touchdown. Deshaun Watson completed all of his three passes for 12 yards and gained 20 yards on three carries. Since Jerome Ford went down with a hamstring injury, this opened the opportunity for running back for Demetric Felton Jr. He finished the game rushing for 31 yards on eight carries. Wide receivers David Bell and Mike Harley Jr each scored a touchdown and combined for 53 yards.
How about Ronnie Hickman Jr? The Browns safety out of Ohio State had an impressive game with two interceptions. The second interception was crucial for the Browns which led them to gain more momentum in the fourth quarter. From a defense standpoint, I would give him the game ball.
The Cleveland Browns’ next game will be against the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday, August 17th.
