The Cleveland Browns defense has been a sensation this season. Their latest victory over the San Francisco 49ers has gained more attention. They held the 49ers to just 17 points and handed them their first loss of the season. The Browns defense is serious. I want this defense to be so serious that I want them in the same class as the 1976 Pittsburgh Steelers, 1985 Chicago Bears, 2000 Baltimore Ravens, 2002 Tampa Bay Bucs, 2013 Seattle Seahawks and 2015 Denver Broncos

But the issue and question is: can the browns become a Super Bowl contender or make a run to the Super Bowl this year?

The Browns are currently dealing with a quarterback situation. Deshaun Watson is battling a shoulder injury and we don’t know when he will return. Plus, their backups haven’t shown any promise just yet. For the Browns to make a deep run, they would need to rely on their defense and have a solid quarterback who can make some contributions and not make too many mistakes.

The 2000 Ravens had arguably the best defense I have ever seen and they had a quarterback in the name of Trent Dilfer, who wasn’t a threat to anyone. No disrespect to him but their defense was their bread and butter that season. They carried this team to the Super Bowl.

This is what I’m hoping for the Cleveland Browns. The defense must be consistent. They have to bring it in every single game. No excuses.

Through five weeks, the Browns have three players with 20 or more tackles: safety Grant Delpit, linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah and linebacker Anthony Walker Jr.

The Cleveland Browns will travel to Indianapolis to take on the Colts on Sunday. The Browns are looking to improve to 4-2 in the season.
