(#150) The Pick: LB Genard Avery

Grade: B

Avery is an athletic linebacker who is able to play either outside or inside. His versatility will give the Browns many options considering his pass-rushing ability. According to PFF (Pro Football Focus), Avery had the highest pass-rushing grade in the class (83.5) at his position, more than 6.5 points higher than the next closest.

In his four years (played 45 games) at Memphis, he piled up 230 total tackles, 44.5 for loss, 21.5 sacks, two interceptions (both going for touchdowns) and five passes defended. That’s an extremely high amount of production.
