3rd Down and Goal: Goodbye Cleveland!

Unfortunately, the game against the Bengals will likely be the last for several current players. We already know about Odell Beckham Jr. who got his dad involved midseason to get him taken off the team. It was a cowardly act by Beckham Jr., and I wish him no good luck in the future.

Beyond that, I believe his buddy Jarvis Landry will not be on the team next season. Even though Landry isn’t a free agent, If the team were to release him or trade him this summer the team would only be out $1.5 million.

Tight end Austin Hooper had a nightmare of a game a week ago against the Steelers. He also hasn’t had a great year overall. He’s not a free agent this offseason, but again the Browns could release or trade him now and they’d save $9.5 million in cap space. David Njoku is a free agent but has had a much better year than Hooper and might be worth resigning.

As much as I’ve loved seeing the Browns defensive end Jadeveon Clowney have a great year with the Browns, the free agent will likely be on the move after the game Sunday. He had a nice seven sacks and really seemed to benefit from playing opposite of teammate Myles Garrett. If the Browns could resign Clowney, that would be a great decision, but I don’t know if this front office wants to spend more money on that position.
