2nd and Goal: Run the damn ball!!

All season, the one part of the team that has demonstrated time and time again that they can win games for you is the running backs. They are the best in the NFL. Nick Chubb, Kareem Hunt and D’Ernest Johnson have dominated games when given the opportunity. The problem with this team’s success this season has fallen on the Browns coaches and their head coach Kevin Stefanski refusing to recognize the value of these three backs. If Stefanski had played his cards right, the Browns would have at least two or three more victories this season.

Chubb has crossed over the 1000-yard mark already this season. He actually stands at 4,700 yards total in his four-year career. That’s only 12 yards away from going by the Browns former running back great Marion Motley at 4,712 yards in his career. No one will ever catch the greatest Jim Brown with his 12,000 yards plus in his star-studded career, but Chubb is on his way to closing in on it if he can stay healthy these next several years.

Whenever the Browns have had a good run game, they usually are winning games. Last week the team ran for over 200 yards and yet they lost. They lost because Chubb was on the sideline the last five plays of the game. It’s been reported that some believe he took himself out of the game late due to being tired, but I don’t buy that.

Kareem Hunt should be back in this game Monday night as well. He’s played very well in his previous games against the Steelers. In the playoff game a year ago he ran in two touchdowns. He’s only played in eight games this season and didn’t play in the Browns’ loss to the Steelers back in October. The injuries to Hunt have certainly affected his time this year. If the team can get him back for this game Monday that would be a big plus.
