While all the talk has been about the Cleveland Browns and news with Deshaun Watson, plus facing Baker Mayfield, the Cavs decided to spice things up here in Cleveland. The team orchestrated a huge trade with the Utah Jazz for SG Donovan Mitchell.

Per ESPN: “The Jazz are receiving Lauri Markkanen, Ochai Agbaji, Collin Sexton and Cleveland’s unprotected first-round picks in 2025, 2027 and 2029 as well as pick swaps in 2026 and 2028, sources said.”

From a Cavs fan, the idea is that the first-round picks will be later in the draft because the team will be thriving with this trade.

Sexton never really fit here in Cleveland, Markkanen was simply a role player and Ochai Agbaji could be the only player that’s a true loss…

Think about this…

Having Jarrett Allen, Darius Garland and newly-acquired Donovan Mitchell is exciting. The 6’1 215 pounder will be in his 6th season. Last year, he averaged 25.9 points (44.8% shooting), 5.3 assists and 4.2 rebounds a night.

Certainly, the Cavs are taking a gamble with this trade and it will be interesting to see how it plays out. Mitchell’s contract is for five years and $163,000,300. He becomes a free agent not until 2026.

Welcome to Cleveland, Donovan. We are happy to have you on our roster!!!
