Baker Mayfield Wins Best College Athlete!
The Browns picked a winner… Well, at least a winner of an award at Wednesday night’s ESPY’s! He won the Best College Athlete award and it shows why the Browns selected him with the first pick in the draft.
In 2017 with the Oklahoma Sooners, Mayfield threw for 4627 yards, a 70.5% completion percentage, 43 touchdowns to just six interceptions. He led to Sooners to a 12-1 record until losing to the Georgia Bulldogs in the Rose Bowl.
Mayfield originally walked on a Texas Tech and then transferred to Oklahoma and walked on there as well. If there is anyone deserving of the award, it’s him. He is truly an inspiration about never giving up even through difficult times and challenges.
The Browns are certainly taking a risk with their selection of Mayfield at #1, but he has a great resume to back up that pick. Hopefully, his stellar play will transfer well to Sundays in Cleveland.
“So to all the kids out there, if you have dreams, go chase it. No excuse is worth it to quit on your dreams. Go make it happen and just enjoy it.” – Baker Mayfield
Let’s get training camp underway and get a true understand of what this kid can bring to the Browns. After all, we’re in need of a new face for Cleveland!
