So, I know the Cleveland Browns have never been to a Super Bowl. That’s depressing! Right? They are one of only four teams, that include the Houston Texans, Jacksonville Jaguars and the Detroit Lions to not reach the big one!
The even tougher part for us Browns fans, especially the older fans, is that right before the Super Bowl started in January of 1967, the Browns were the best team in the land and collected eight football titles. Between 1950-64, they won four NFL Championships before it was called the Super Bowl. During that stretch, the Browns played in nine NFL Championship Games. Before that, the Browns gobbled up four more titles in a row from 1946-49 when they were in the All-American Football Conference.
With no titles since, it’s a true testament to the Browns’ loyal fan base that we still cheer on our team week after, year after year, in hopes of reaching that peak on Super Bowl Mountain!
This being Super Bowl week, I thought it would be fun to put together a Browns Super Bowl-caliber type team of former and current Browns players.
The criteria for making these teams are qualified around the time that I started cheering on the Browns when I was a kid. My first lasting memory was the Browns of the 1980 season and the Kardiac Kids! So these Browns players have all played since 1980. Here are your Cleveland Browns versus the Cleveland Browns in our Super Bowl!
