A Reflection: Happy Independence Day


Living in the United States of America is the biggest blessing because we are free. Certainly, our society has a plethora of differences in various political views, lifestyles and………………….favorite sports teams! However, the ability to have the aforementioned freedom is sometimes taken for granted. By myself and many others, too.

On this July 4th, we celebrate Independence Day and the 245th birthday of this country. We are able to watch our beloved Cleveland teams and enjoy the ability to do so despite the fact that for the vast majority of my life has been unfortunately filled with losing.

We are never going to have a perfect country. There are always going to be flaws, yet taking a look at the Declaration of Independence and it reads…

ย “We hold these Truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.”

I love that.

It goes to show that we as human beings are gifted with the ability to strive for what makes us happy. I created Cleveland Sports Talk many years ago as a place where fans would be able to voice their opinions on the various teams and allow for many to read and comment as well.

There are many countries where being able to write the opinions one feels is not allowed. This website would simply not exist.

Let’s enjoy the fireworks, parties, food and fun on this celebratory day. Additionally, cheering on our beloved Indians as they take on the Astros this afternoon at Progressive Field here in Cleveland. Hoping and praying for a WIN!

America is the only country founded on an idea and that is absolutely amazing. Here’s to many more birthdays, many more celebrations and much love amongst all who reside in this great country.
