A look at Notre Dame Offensive Tackle Blake Fisher

On April 25th -27th 2024 the NFL will be conducting the College Football Draft in Detroit Michigan. Top prospects from the NCAA will gather to hear their name called at the commissioner’s podium. For the third straight year, the Cleveland Browns are without a first-round pick. But the team still has future needs, especially on the offensive line.

Currently, the Browns have three starting offensive tackles, Jack Conklin is about to turn 30 years old, and Jed Wills is in the final year of his rookie contract. Dewand Jones played well and was injured in his rookie season in 2023. Offensive tackle can be a future need for this team. All three of these players ended their 2023 season on injured reserve. The future and depth of this position must be considered a priority by Browns General Manager Andrew Berry.

The Cleveland Browns’ first pick in the 2024 NFL Draft is in the second round and 54th overall. Notre Dame offensive tackle Blake Fisher is projected to be available with that pick. He is listed at 6’6” and 310 lbs. He ran a 5.2-second 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine last month. He was a five-star recruit out of Avon Indiana for Notre Dame. He just turned 21 on March 25th. He is a young developmental offensive tackle. He also has versatility in the position. He can play either left or right tackle. He did play right tackle at Notre Dame for a reason. That reason was Joe Alt was Notre Dame’s starting left offensive tackle and he is expected to be picked in the top 10 of the NFL Draft. The Browns could be a perfect situation for Fisher.

Fisher is considered a developmental offensive tackle by NFL Draft experts. The Browns have three tackles that can start in the NFL for the 2024 season. This young man can come day one with zero pressure to make the leap from the NCAA to the NFL. He can learn from a veteran like Jack Conklin and be advised by Cleveland Browns alum Hall of Famer Joe Thomas. The Browns offseason philosophy is to fill team needs with trades and free agency. The draft is for future developmental prospects. With the way the Cleveland Browns roster looks in 2024, Cleveland can be a good situation for any rookie.
