FIVE SEC prospects Cavs should be zoning in on for NBA draft

GG Jackson, G/F, South Carolina

Here’s another 6’9 forward in the SEC, who’s having a great freshman season. He’s averaging almost 15 points a game to go along with his six boards. He’s also had a 30-point game this season but his South Carolina team has struggled this year in the win column despite Jackson’s efforts. He’s shooting about 33% on his three-point shots which is good and that will only get better in time.

The bigger concern at the moment for Jackson though is he has been pushed out of the starting lineup of the Gamecocks because of his poor attitude and demeanor.

He was considered a No. 1 prospect coming out of high school. One of the top recruits in the country, he had planned on going to North Carolina before he de-committed and went to South Carolina instead. Recently, he has lost minutes because of his attitude and lack of effort. As a young 18-year-old, he has lacked maturity of late. Signs point to him declaring for the NBA and the Cavs might consider a run at him despite some of these current immaturity issues.

Cleveland already has a very young team and Jackson is projected to be drafted in the later rounds of the draft.
