What is Johnny Manziel’s accuracy like?
–JFF is best when he can throw downfield. The pass to Swope on the wheel route in 2012 versus Bama, and the throw the Evans that I just described are good examples of that. I watched his pro day workout on TV and he was most accurate on the deep pass, especially on the run.
There was no 3rd and long that we in the stands didn’t think was a problem. Literally. Holding call? No problem. False start? No problem.
The biggest challenge towards the end of his A&M career seemed to be the short to intermediate stuff. Usually, defenses force the offense to go deep to loosen up the underneath. Towards the end of 2013, it felt like the underneath stuff was there, but Johnny was trying too many times to hit the long pass downfield when the easier completion was right under his nose.
I think that he does a great job at analyzing Manziel. He isn’t a fanboy. This is a man that has seen Manziel play more than any of us, and he witnessed live!
